Academic Overview

Our Portrait of a Graduate helps us begin with the end in mind. We seek to cultivate graduates who believe the gospel, behold Christ in His Word and His works, read and think deeply and widely, reason and speak with wisdom and eloquence, and serve Christ by sharing the gospel and seeking flourishing for every human being and society.

Stages of Learning

  • Grammar School

    K5 through 5th Grade

In the Grammar School years, students are naturally inclined toward wonder which leads to wisdom. Students are exposed to the wonders of Scripture, the natural world, history, literature, and mathematics. In this stage, we focus not only on wonder that sets the stage for lifelong learning but also on virtue which cultivates moral and intellectual integrity.

Students practice habits that become well worn paths as they spend their days in intentional proximity to parents at home and teachers and friends on campus. They pursue mastery as young readers, speakers, writers, and mathematicians. Students at this level enjoy reading and being read to, singing, memorizing, and engaging with the wonderful world around them through great literature, art, music, and play.

  • Logic School

    6th Grade through 8th Grade

In the Logic School years, students who are growing in virtue are increasingly able to enjoy freedom - the ability to govern his or herself out because of the intellectual and moral virtues needed to pursue a life of peace and integrity. Students in the Logic School engage in a rich curricula of History, Literature, Bible, Science, Math, Writing,
Latin, Logic, Music, Art, and introductory Oratory.

Logic School classes are discussion based and built to honor a pace that leaves room for wonder and depth that leads to mastery. While parents are seeing greater student independence, a hands-off approach to at-home learning is discouraged in this stage. This is the time for conversations, reflection, editing, and continued a mentoring relationship.

  • Rhetoric School

    9th Grade through 12th Grade

In the Rhetoric School years, students are prepared to enter into the great conversation. Their course of study includes Great Books courses which focus on reading and pondering fundamental questions through classic texts from various cultures, emphasizing critical thinking and Socratic conversation.

Their curriculum also includes Discipleship, Science, Math, Progymnasmata, Latin, Spanish, and Rhetoric. Electives are published from year to year and may include Christian Persuasion, athletics, economics, theology, and philosophy.
Seniors will complete a thesis at the end of their journey with us.

Parents in the Rhetoric School are encouraged to read a book each year alongside their student to continue the rich conversations they hope to continue to have into adulthood. This is the time to encourage independence, grow toward adult friendship, and launch students who have grown to love what is good, true, and beautiful.
